I have not taken many photos of animals. I don't usually go to the zoo and am always on the move --as are most dogs and cats that roam around where I generally shoot. And, since I'm not a "portrait" photographer, I don't just take a picture of the dog or cat. If I discover an animal in the plane of a potential image, I will take it, as I did with the deer crossing the road near Cave Creek, Arizona. Sometimes I will alter the photograph --as I did with the cat in the Modified Photo section-- because it provides an opportunity for me to get more creative with the image.
